About the role

Becoming a Trustee is a great way to use your unique skills and experience to make a difference. As part of our dynamic board, you’ll play a key role in successfully running our award-winning cycling charity. Following a period of transformation, Life Cycle is gearing up for an exciting next phase – and we’re looking for skilled people to help shape our strategic direction.

Life Cycle has a team of 37 paid staff (equivalent to 30 full-time) who run the charity on a day-to-day basis, supported by 50 freelancers and 100 volunteers. By acting as supportive allies and critical friends, you’ll help ensure that our charity services deliver maximum social impact now and in the future.

“I never would have been promoted to my new job if it hadn’t been for my experience as a Trustee at Life Cycle and the skills I learned as part of my involvement! The team do such great work, and I feel it’s a fantastic organisation to be involved with” - Current Trustee.

The role of our Trustees is to:

  • Contribute to strategic planning and development.
  • Support the CEO and senior staff to run an effective organisation.
  • Get involved with and/or provide leadership on specific developments and initiatives.
  • Monitor performance against delivering our charitable objectives.
  • Provide overall governance, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Charity Commission/Companies House requirements.
  • Receive regular financial reports and oversee good financial practices.
  • Advocate for the organisation and its work.

We are particularly interested in enhancing the following skills on our board: strategic charitable fundraising, change management, retail, safeguarding and health & safety.
